I got an advance listen to HARDY’s new EP, SIDES, and after listening all the way through, I’m impressed. Full disclosure: I’m a diehard HARDY fan, so loving it probably comes as no surprise. But even with high expectations, these four songs left me with plenty to appreciate.

Featuring “By God,” “Hell,” “King of the Hill” and “Tommy Made the News,” SIDES moves from an uplifting, spiritual opening supported by a church choir to a closing track that leaves a very different kind of impression. “Tommy Made the News” is a heartbreaking piece of country storytelling, the kind that stays with you after the music stops.
That range is part of what I love about HARDY. There’s something in his music for people across generations, and one look around the crowd at a show makes that clear. Young, old and everyone in between find something to connect with.
With each new release, his work seems more refined, and his storytelling more assured. It’s hard to imagine someone with his talent continuing to get better, but he keeps giving us reasons to believe he does. And we’re here for it.
SIDES is out NOW. Give all four songs a listen. This one deserves your time.
